William Dalrymple

 

William Dalrymple (b. 1965) is a Scottish historian and writer, as well as art historian, curator, prominent broadcaster and critic. He is the author of From the Holy Mountain: A Journey Among the Christians of the Middle East, Nine Lives: in Search of the Sacred in Modern India, The Last Mughal, White Mughals, and Return of a King: The Battle of Afghanistan among other works. His books have won numerous awards and prizes, including the Duff Cooper Memorial Prize, the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award, the Hemingway, the Kapuscinski and the Wolfson Prizes. He is also one of the co-founders and co-directors of the annual Jaipur Literature Festival.
