Gallery Manager

Tasveer is a photography gallery and arts organisation with offices in Bangalore and New Delhi. Since its inception in 2006, the gallery has been programming over 30 exhibitions a year across India, as well as tying up with museums and arts institutions abroad to promote fine art photography from India. As a commercial gallery, Tasveer works with clients, museums and corporates to develop their collections, as well as participating in art fairs around the world to develop an international market for photography from South Asia. The gallery also works with corporate sponsors to advise on CSR initiatives and develop new funding opportunities for the arts in India. Alongside its exhibitions programme and events, Tasveer publishes books on photography and programmes a range of printed and digital content around the medium.

Tasveer is looking for a highly motivated Gallery Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the gallery and head office in Bangalore.

Key responsibilities will include:

Overseeing the logistics and accounts team to ensure the smooth running of Tasveer exhibitions across the country, making sure artworks reach venues on time and that quality control procedures are followed

Overseeing Tasveer marketing initiatives and ensuring the exhibition schedule is maintained and communicated across galleries

Working together with in house PR and Communications head to ensure frequent and quality exposure in the press and digital media, and to manage PR relationships

Communications with clients, including following up sales and managing client relationships

Marketing Tasveer’s exhibitions and artists both in India and internationally

Art Fair organisation and planning, and accompanying the Director to art fairs in India and internationally

Communications with sponsors and partners, and overseeing sponsor reports

Researching and implementing new opportunities for the gallery; art fairs, museum shows, grant opportunities

Developing an education and outreach programme and developing the Tasveer grants programme

Overseeing the work of our in-house graphic designer to produce exhibition catalogues, invites, client presentations and web-based design projects, as well as continued improvement and updating of the Tasveer website

The candidate should match the following criteria:

Experience working in the arts in a professional capacity

At least two years management experience

Strong interpersonal skills, presentable and with exceptional levels of English

A desire to build a career in the art world

Self motivated and confident with communicating with clients

Excellent organisational skills and an ability to multi-task and prioritise

Salary: Rs. 6 - 7.5 lakhs per annum based on experience
